Overview

Introduction

In the midst of a tiring and boring routine, planned meetings and work take over our lives. The good times are fleeting, and in these short gaps in our overstuffed schedules, we struggle to find activities that fill our spiritual lives. On the other hand, cultural activities in the city are rich and colorful, with music festivals, art exhibitions, and movies emerging in an endless stream. How might we walk side by side with these joys?

Project Timeline

This project was rebuilt from my first interest-based product after graduation, and in the days since, the idea was purchased. I changed the design according to the client's request and used some of the previously designed interface. Therefore, these two designs were merged into my portfolio.

Inspiration Background

I had a very free time after graduation. During this time, I participated in many art fairs in Berlin and watched a lot of TV series that I didn't have time to watch before. During this full and happy time, I felt another kind of busyness.

I want to participate in as many exhibitions as possible, but the time constraints prevent me from attending every one of them. I want to watch as many dramas as possible, but the timing of the updates keeps throwing my schedule out of control. I was looking at my inbox cluttered with tickets, times, and reminders, and it occurred to me, I'm going to do something.

User Research

To this end, I conducted interviews and talks with a lot of friends around me. What they know is that my purpose is to produce an app related to urban activities, so they brainstormed and provided me with a lot of useful information, which I think is very interesting, and I will list these interesting contents below.

Don't you use Google Calendar? I think Google Calendar can cover most events. Free time, hmmm... makes sense, I really don't have a calendar dedicated to my free time. Yes yes, I watch TV and it has reminders and you can get emails. No, I think it's okay, because I rarely follow several series at the same time. Of course it would be even better if there were reminders on Netflix. As for this part I think it's fine.

If there is such a calendar, I would like to use it, but I expect more, I hope it is not just a simple calendar, because the mobile phone also has a calendar, although the function is not so rich, but at least it is usable, isn't it? Especially exhibition activities? I don't understand, you mean put together the activities? There are other apps for that.

I like your idea of separating entertainment life from everyday life, and it's also very important, and I look forward to the form that the product presents.
I have a lot to say about TV shows. I like to watch the finished TV series, and I will watch them repeatedly, and I will continue to wait and see the TV series that are still being updated, unless it is a sequel. Oh yes, then I'll watch it right away, and I'll also record the update time from that perspective.

Oh yes, I often participate in various events, exhibitions, concerts and so on. I tend to be the advocate, and I plan everything I can, so I have a series of apps for these activities, such as booking tickets, hotels, restaurants, and of course social apps. I'm actually quite used to this process, but I think it would be cool to have an app just for this process. You mean city events? I wish the range was a bit wider, how about Europe?

I'm usually the part who follow dramas. While I don't think remembering when they were updated is a hindrance, being able to visualize the stats sounds like a cool thing to do.

I think you have a good idea, but for those small towns, the activities may not be frequent, and it is difficult to find target users. I don't watch TV dramas very much, but I think being able to see the update time may be a good experience for those who watch dramas.

New Challenge

Multiple Demands

When I took over a project, I realized that the needs of multiple parties need to be taken into account. These requirements have commonalities and conflicts.  If these contents are not clear and clear, it will cause confusion in the product's goals and collapse the structure of the entire App. My first task is to process this information and briefly list the products, and connect to different needs.

Transformation of Objects

A very big challenge when the project is purchased is the transformation of the design object. This is also a problem that makes me think more deeply, that is, my design perspective has changed from providing services for users to meeting client expectations.

Fortunately, after researching and comparing the needs of multiple parties, the needs of Client often point to one or two main functions, and the additional or subsidiary functions can meet the needs of users, which has been found in my previous designs. So I only need to clarify new problems, and then I can get a clear design idea.

So we get the new problem with this design:

How might we encourage users to use their leisure time to participate in urban art and cultural activities?
